Travel far enough, you meet yourself - David Mitchell

I purchased my plane tickets to Paris. The plan is to walk the French Route or Camino Francés to Santiago de Compostela where the relics of St James supposedly lie. I am hoping this journey will challenge me physically, spiritually and allow me to reflect on the path I have already walked, and prepare me for the path ahead.

I am also looking for inspiration by using quotes from wordsmiths that can express the moment much better than I can. Writing has always been a chore.

As a photographer I needed a visual symbol to metaphorically represent this pilgrimage. Introducing my "Bromponie".

Bromponie is the Afrikaans (Dutch) word for a motor bike. Brom is associated with a low rumbling noise made by a fly, moped or a grumpy old man. This seems so appropriate for the journey I am currently on. For my midlife "crisis" will use this model to metaphorically represent my journey.

I've never been a risk taker. No convertible or motorbike for me. Maybe this journey will allow me to take more risks and face the fears of such risks.
